Birth and death are among the most natural processes of life. Death, which causes the end of a life, affects both the deceased and the environment. Experts do a wide variety of research on death. Dr. Sam Parnia conducted research on 567 men and women over the age of 25 whose hearts had stopped. According to this research, patients can feel and hear something during cardiac arrest at death.
THOSE WHO ARE AWARE THAT HEART MASSAGE IS DONE
Paramedics tested more than two dozen patients in the US and UK who had their hearts stopped suddenly while in hospital but later recovered. The results showed that there were five main themes in the patients’ experiences. This included ‘evaluating life’, such as seeing memories and assessing how they treated others during their lifetime. Others felt as if they were ‘going to a destination’ or even were aware that CPR was being performed.
BRAIN MONITORING DEVICE IS INSTALLED
Dr Parnia’s study looked at the experiences of only 53 men and women who were given CPR after the first 567 people had a cardiac arrest and subsequently recovered. As the patients were resuscitated, they were fitted with brain-monitoring devices to see if there was any signal that their brains were receiving information.
THEY WERE HEARING THE VOICES
The devices also projected images onto a screen in front of the patient while they were receiving treatment, and played audio clips of words read every five minutes, such as apples, pears, and bananas. Dr Parnia said some patients remember certain things, but some “memories” were likely misinterpreted medical events.
THERE WERE DREAMERS BETWEEN
One patient remembered seeing the paramedics and could feel her chest being rubbed. Three patients reported dream-like experiences, one of which involved a singing fisherman.
THEY ASSESSED THEIR LIVES
Some recalled feeling that they had been given CPR, while others recalled evaluating their lives and thinking about how they had affected others. Six of the 28 interviewees recalled the death experience, one heard her deceased grandmother tell her to return to her body. Some people felt that they were going to a place they perceived as home. Others recalled activities in intensive care after undergoing CPR.
