Franco-Canadian streamer Félix “xQc“ Lengyel (26) is one of the biggest stars on Twitch. He is known for being on the air a lot and sharing his life with his viewers. Now he seems to have had enough of them wanting to interfere in his relationships.
Why is everyone interested in his relationship? xQc has had quite a turbulent on-off relationship with a streamer named Sammy, who comes across as “adeptthebest” or “adept”. In September, xQc announced the split despite Adept’s request for privacy.
Some fans of xQc seemed to have had a problem with Adept for a while. Again and again there were mean comments about their appearance and their motives. She would only use xQc to become more famous through him, so the accusation.
Now, however, xQc seems to have had enough of everyone gossiping about his private relationships. In one stream he got upset about parasocial viewers who would want to dictate his life.

xQc denies relationship
What is the relationship now? The rumor mill was reignited last week when xQc invited English streamer NYYXXII over. The stream ended with a kiss between the two, but the two did not officially want to make their relationship.
His viewers were nonetheless thrilled that xQc appears to be over their split. For many, NYYXXII was a clear improvement over Adept. One fan even made a weird comparison to graphics cards (via Twitter).
But then xQc and NYYXXII were guests of Twitch streamer Adin Ross. Clips from the party quickly circulated, showing NYYXXII kissing another woman – a treat for viewers who were already predicting the imminent end of the relationship.
What does xQc say about this? In a subsequent stream, xQc responded to clips and stated that he wasn’t in a relationship with NYYXXII, they were just dating.
However, his chat’s comments on the situation seemed to be getting on his nerves. After enduring for a few hours, xQc finally had enough and tried to put the events in perspective.
While people were getting upset online, he was just having a good time at the party, according to xQc. He spent most of the night in the pool and got drunk, half of the events he can’t even remember.
xQc doesn’t want to have his feelings dictated to him
What is wrong with xQc? He accused the blasphemous viewers of being dissatisfied themselves and therefore wanting to live through him. xQc himself does not yet know what he hopes for from this “dating thing”, according to the streamer. But everyone would already try to dictate his feelings:
It’s strange to see how everyone tries to live, feel, think and act for me. It’s just a weird, crazy world where everyone tries to do everything for me. […] Everyone tries to dictate everything to me. Even how I feel, talk and the way I react to things.
xQc said he just wanted to have fun and chill on the stream, but his chat would make up stories and spread rumors at the same time.
Viewers say it’s your own fault
How did the rant come about? In a kind of vicious circle, clips of xQc’s announcement went viral on the LivestreamFail subreddit, as did the original footage of the kiss. While some users could understand the streamer’s frustration, others accused him of being to blame.
Several videos were uploaded to xQc’s YouTube channel that referred to NYYXXII as his girlfriend. By sharing every aspect of his life, he’s actually inviting that behavior, according to some opinions.
Some accused xQc of downright farming unhealthy relationships with viewers:
I love xQc, but he can’t complain when he shares his private life with millions of people, lets his editors upload clickbait titles to YouTube, and responds every day on reddit and LSF. He enables and cultivates the parasocial viewers, and then gets upset that there are so many of them.

xQc currently has over 11 million followers on Twitch and is on the air for several hours almost every day. It’s not always easy to keep your private life out of the streams. Whether he now takes the consequences and tries to draw clearer boundaries between his life offline and his work remains to be seen.
Twitch colleague Asmongold has also had to experience that romantic relationships and a larger fan community are sometimes difficult to reconcile. Many fans of the MMORPG streamer are single themselves and some try to identify with him:
