Longterm Games announced Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home, its first game telling a space story. In the 2.5D platform game, we will witness the story of the dog named Bea, who was sent into space and met with a more or less friendly creature there, consisting of adventures with the players.
Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home to be released this year
For those who admire the tales of games like Ori and the Blind Forest, Inside, Limbo and Journey, the story of Space Tail is inspired by real events where people are trying to conquer space, or rather, just getting started. Before humans explored space on their own, many animals were paving the way to the stars—they were the first to see up close what many humans encountered years later. Unfortunately, most of them did not survive this journey… Except for Bea.
Gameplay in Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home is based on three mechanics: senses, relationships, and companions.
- Senses- Bea is not a super dog. They don’t have any superhuman or, to be more precise: super canine powers. Just like any other dog, he can rely only on his senses: smell, sight and hearing. These are the main elements of the mechanics called “detective mode” that will help him achieve his goals and stay safe from danger. In an unfamiliar environment, he can only rely on his own senses and instincts.
- Relationships – Bea will meet many extraterrestrials during her journey. Some will be friendly, others will see Bea as a danger. Players can interact with creatures and communicate to bond, find a common language, and help each other through the dog behavior-based dialogue system. But you have to be very careful, because every action will have consequences.
- Companions – Traveling through different worlds, Bea will befriend two beings: Comet Rose and the robot 8088Y. These comrades who will accompany him throughout almost the entire game; They will help him solve puzzles and save him from troubles, and eventually they will affect the ending of the game. Each companion will have unique abilities that players must use in the most difficult moment of the game.
Robert Oglodzinski, Executive Producer of Longterm Games, said: “Space Tail is not only fun at first but also has a structure that makes players think because it is not a simple story about a dog lost in space. The whole animal is the precursor of an adventure that takes people to the stars and from there to a time travel. “It is a retro platform game where we pay homage to our friends,” he said.
Space Tail: Every Journey Leads Home will be a great game for anyone young or old. The puzzles that will test your logical thinking and creativity are designed to keep your attention from the story, as the story part of the game, created in collaboration with the award-winning Polish director and screenwriter Lukasz Palkowski, will be important.
Created in collaboration with Enjoy Studio SA, Bea’s adventures will be experienced to the music of two critically acclaimed Polish composers, Jan Sanejko and Bartosz Chajdecki.
