Event “Lunar New Year” brings strong bonuses and many Shinys – players praise it

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The “Lunar New Year” event awaits you in Pokémon GO in the coming days, which will bring you lots of spawns, shinys and, above all, strong bonuses. We have summarized what that will be for you here on MeinMMO.

Which event is it about? The annual Lunar New Year event is coming up in Pokémon GO in the next few days. This picks up the color red to match the Asian model, which is why you can mainly find monsters with this color at this event.

Fire-type Pokémon in particular also play a major role, which is why it is not surprising that Flampion is the symbol of this year’s event in the game. In addition to a lot of spawns, many shinys and strong bonuses await you again. We have summarized below what these are and what the trainers think about them.

When is the Lunar New Year? The Lunar New Year event starts on January 19, 2023 at 10:00 local time and runs until January 23 at 20:00 local time.

All Spawns & Shinys for the Lunar New Year event at a glance

Which spawns await you? In addition to Flampion as the mascot of the Lunar New Year event, you can mainly encounter monsters that have been in the game for a long time. Many of them will therefore also exist in their respective dazzling forms. In keeping with the Year of the (Water) Rabbit, you will also encounter a number of different rabbit Pokémon, such as Haspiror or Scoppel.

For this reason, keep an eye out for them in the wild and in raids. Event Pokémon can also be hatched from 7km Eggs.

Trainers’ opinions on the Lunar New Year

  • In the reddit community, the first reactions to the event and the early announcement of the content are quite positive. Even if one or the other trainer would have liked more bonuses or a few other shinys, many players are satisfied with the prospects for the event content. So you can read the following in the comments (via reddit.com):
  • Krispyboiz: “Damn, it seems like a decent event, but I was hoping that a Flampion-focused event would bring us zen-mode Flampivian, even if it’s just Unova’s.”
  • roherlihy: “They gave the details of the last events well in advance, which is very welcome and I hope it stays that way.”
  • Orlykid2: “Paras and Wadribie in quests! 750 dust with triple dust for community day is huge.”
  • GhostHarvester: “Well, this really is an event. Totally blown away. But what does Regice have to do with all of this?”

And with such a reaction, the Lunar New Year is not the first event this year. The contents of the current “Funkelndefantasy” event and the Community Day in February with eF-eM have also been well received by the trainers so far.

How do you like the contents of the Lunar New Year event? Which monsters were you hoping for in this context? And which bonuses do you want to use in any case? Let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.

There is still a lot to do in Pokémon GO in the coming weeks. We have summarized all events in January for you and show you which ones are worthwhile.
