The price hike wave in May affected all segments. Half a million TL is on the way to become the base for the cheapest car models sold in Turkey.
The automobile market in Turkey has felt the price-oriented fluctuations in the last period, too, in the current May. In the lists where six-digit price hikes are reflected, we witness that new record thresholds are passed for some models. The month of May, when Renault Megane, produced in Turkey, crossed the 1 million TL threshold for the first time, left a mark in every segment. In parallel with this, many of the entry-level models are now inaccessible for citizens who really need a car.
It is known that the A segment, which is the entry level of the automobile world, is not popular in Turkey. As a matter of fact, in this segment, which we are currently looking at, there are no options other than Hyundai i10, Kia Picanto, Fiat Panda and Fiat 500. The Hyundai i10, which is the most accessible model in the market today with the effect of being produced in Turkey, starts from 445,000 TL after the last price hikes. The top package of the family has exceeded 550 thousand TL. The cheapest version of Kia Picanto, which is the cousin of the i10 and is sold in Turkey as an import, is on the list with a very serious difference of 624,000 TL. Fiat Panda, which is at the top of Italy’s best-selling cars, carries more than half a million TL of labels with its cheapest version today. The popular Cross version of Fiat Egea, Turkey’s best-selling car, is also coming with a starting tag of 550 thousand TL, after the latest price hikes. The cheapest car of Dacia, which left its mark in Europe with its price / performance qualities, starts from 618,000 TL.
