Ikea currently sells five products from Mondelez, among them Marabou chocolate. Mattias Hennius, press officer at Ikea Sweden, however, does not want to answer whether the decision to stop selling the products is a stance in the boycott, nor when the decision was taken.
The decision is primarily based on a long-term ambition to produce more and more Ikea products for our Food range. For a few years now, we have further developed and focused on our own chocolate and candy products, he tells TT.
Last Friday, the entertainment organizer Parks and Resorts, which includes Gröna Lund, Kolmården, Furuvik and Skara Sommarland, also announced that it is joining the ranks of companies pausing all purchases from Marabou manufacturer Mondelez.
The royal stamp is tested
“Although we only have Swedish products from Marabou and Mondelez Sweden in our parks, we cannot ignore the fact that their parent company Mondelez still conducts business in Russia and has been blacklisted by Ukraine,” the company stated in a press release.
The Swedish Armed Forces have also decided to stop receiving deliveries of Mondelez products. The question of whether Marabou will be allowed to call himself a royal court supplier in the future may be reconsidered.
