On Monday, January 13th it was that time again: The regular edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? after the turbulent 3 million euro week. Günther Jauch welcomed the audience and his candidates, one of which is built particularly close to the water.
WWM candidate talks about difficult times at school and her illness
Truck driver Iris Oberath was one with her quick-tempered nature Challenge for Günther Jauch. Even when she won the selection round, she was overjoyed: “Age! I don’t believe that!“As she sat down in the candidate’s chair, she waved her hands. Jauch commented that it wasn’t that warm in the studio, whereupon she dry with “Menopause” replied.
She answered the first questions with flying colors, even though she had to use a joker each due to her ignorance about the North Sea island of Borkum and the rapper Post Malone. Then it got emotional: Iris reported on her difficult time at schoolwhich was characterized by bullying, which she even defended herself against with violence. Above all her ADHD disorder played a big role in this, she said:
I also have to say: I have ADHD. And That wasn’t an issue back thenespecially not with girls.
Despite 186 entries in the class register, she later acquired her technical college entrance qualification.
When she won 32,000 euros, she burst into tears
When it came to the 64,000 euro question, she finally didn’t know what to do and had to trust the telephone joker. The question was this which world record the Ukrainian Yaroslava Mahutschich broke in 2024. The choices were javelin throw, high jump, shot put and 100 meter run. The telephone joker guessed shot put.
But Iris was too unsure and preferred to keep the 32,000 euros. She was lucky because the correct answer would have been high jump. When she won her five-figure amount, she suddenly burst into tears. Günther Jauch couldn’t resist a funny saying:
Women are really cheeky and then you give them 32,000 euros – and then they start crying
But then he asked in a serious tone: “Why are you crying like that? Is it tight for you right now?“Iris then repeated: “I’m going through menopause, it’s crazy” and emphasized that her boyfriend found her current emotionality “totally sweet.” Her boyfriend, who was sitting in the audience, confirmed this.
