On the occasion of her next participation in Jean-Luc Reichmann’s program, “Les 12 coups de midi”, the famous weather presenter and ambassador of the association Ruban rose confided in Télé-Loisirs. She returns with emotion to her breast cancer, treated 11 years ago.

Evelyne Dhéliat will soon participate in the TF1 program, les 12 coups de midi, presented by Jean-Luc Reichmann. If the weather presenter is going to put her knowledge forward during this famous game show, it’s for a good cause. Indeed, in collaboration with the Arc Foundation and Gustave Roussy, the objective is to carry out an unprecedented operation for cancer research.

Treated for breast cancer 11 years ago

Cancer, precisely, is a disease she knows well. Evelyne Dhéliat also confided in Télé Loisirs on the ordeal she went through eleven years ago already in 2012. “I had surgery in June, there were summer holidays, I told myself that it would go unnoticed. But afterwards, the treatments had to be continued, I couldn’t come back right away. At one point, viewers called TF1 and sent emails to ask what was going on and so we communicated about it. It was mutually supportive. I had a lot of warm feedback from viewers, telling me that they were with me, that it was going to be fine. Me, in return, I undoubtedly gave courage to women by returning to work”.

Ambassador for the Pink Ribbon Association

This is not the first time that Evelyne Dhéliat has spoken of her illness. This is how in 2012, Evelyne Dhéliat approached her breast cancer on TF1, justifying several months of absence on the air, and wishing to reassure her audience. A televised moment, strong in emotions, which the essential weather presenter recalled this weekend on LCI, when she spoke of her role as ambassador of the association Ruban rose.

“As happens to thousands of women, I underwent surgery in the spring which required rest and treatment which is currently still in progress, supervised by a formidable medical team”.

A very violent moment, a fight

The touching testimony of Evelyne Dhéliat also evoked without taboo and with great sincerity the way in which she personally went through this ordeal.

It is such a violent shock at the announcement of the diagnosis! But, very quickly, I told myself that I had no choice. You have to fight and above all not give up. The support of my loved ones and my total confidence in the medical team gave me the weapons for this fight” she remembers.

Putting your notoriety at the service of Pink October

Talking openly about the disease was not an easy decision, she says. “It’s true that at that time, I was a public figure and I thought that was part of my private life. I didn’t want to put the problems I had on others. So I had been very discreet at that time”.

But ten years later, the force has not left the favorite weather presenter of the French. A force which allows her today to fulfill her role as ambassador of the Pink Ribbon association and to speak openly about breast cancer, with the hope of inspiring certain women and encouraging them to be screened.

“I had heard doctors and specialists say that when certain people have a certain reputation and talk about it, it helps people and it helps to raise awareness. And of course myself, who was affected by this disease, when I came back on the air, when I took off my wig, people said to me: ‘We followed you.’ And that’s very important, that’s how I do it”.
