Eveliina Salonen won the World Championship gold at the end of a tight final round. The World Championship gold is Finland’s first in the sport.

Eveliina Salonen won the Frisbee Golf World Cup gold. Salonen shot an 18-under par in the five-round World Cup competition in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA.
– A lot happened, situations lived all the time. At that point on tee 13, I already thought that the race might be over, but I was only three behind. Then it was just a hard fight to the end, Salonen described the final round.
Salonen, who suffered from putting difficulties in the middle stages of the final round, was able to collect himself and rose to victory in the last fairways.
The United States, who entered the final round from the top spot Holly’s Handley collapsed and another American rose to fight for the gold with Salonen Kat Mertsch.
In the end, the world championship came away with a difference of 2 throws to Mertsch. Estonian Kristin Buckwheat inscription on bronze.
Salonen went to the final round of the World Championships in second place, one throw behind Handley, who led.
In the middle stages of the round, Salonen took the lead. On the ninth fairway, the opening shot flew out and two of the Finn’s putts went into the woods.
With three consecutive birdies, Salonen rose from third place to lead the race. The Finnish thrower’s strengths are long and accurate drives, thanks to which he has become one of the absolute top players in the world.
Salonen won the World Championship silver 5 years ago and earlier this season he celebrated a major victory. However, the gold is the first in the sport for him and for Finland. Salonen will receive $17,000 from the win.
Remember the Finns Heidi Laine was eighth and Henna Blomroos ninth. Silva Saarinen was 11th in the final rankings. The Men’s Frisbee Golf World Championship will be decided tomorrow night Finnish time.
