(Finance) – The trade balance of the Eurozone in the month of June 2023by registering a surplus of 23 billion euros, compared to the red of 0.3 billion in May 2023 and compared to a deficit of 27.1 billion euros in June 2022. This was announced by the Statistical Institute of the European Union (Eurostat). Analysts’ estimates were for a smaller surplus of 18.3 billion.
The first estimate for the exports of euro area goods to the rest of the world in June 2023 was 252.3 billion euros, with an increase of 0.3% compared to June 2022, while the imports they amounted to 229.3 billion euro, down by 17.7%. The intra-euro area trade it fell to €231.6 billion in June 2023, down 4.1% from June 2022.
From January to June 2023, euro area exports of goods to the rest of the world rose to €1 434.9 billion (an increase of 3.2% compared to January-June 2022) and imports fell to €1 429.6 billion euros (with a decrease of 7.3% compared to January-June 2022). As a result, the euro area recorded a surplus of €5.3 billion, compared to -€151.8 billion in the January-June 2022 period.
Widening the gaze tointernal European Union, extra-EU exports of goods in June 2023 amounted to €225.9 billion, up by 0.4% compared to June 2022, while imports stood at €201.2 billion, down by 22.6%. As a result, the EU recorded a surplus of €24.6 billion in June 2023, compared to a deficit of €34.9 billion in June 2022. Intra-EU trade fell to €358.7 billion , -3% compared to June 2022.
