Eurozone inflation slows to 2.2% in August

ECB Stournaras three cuts in 2024 are the most likely

(Telestock) – Eurozone inflation to slow in August 2024. This is what emerges from preliminary data from the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), which published its flash inflation estimate this morning. The trend data shows a +2.2%in line with the consensus, after the +2.5% recorded the previous month. A figure now very close to the ECB’s target.

By monthConsumer prices, on the other hand, are stable after having remained unchanged the previous month.

Core inflation – which excludes energy, food and tobacco – is estimated at 2.8%, in line with the consensus and slightly above the previous month (+2.9%).

Harmonized inflationexcluding food and energy components, is stable at 2.8% and marks a 0.3% increase on the month (-0.1% in July).
