(Finance) – The eurozone economy grew slightly less than expected in the second quarter of the year. This was announced by the European Statistical Office, EUROSTAT, by publishing the second estimate of the GDP of the single currency area.
In the second quarter of 2022, the GDP record a increase of 0.6% on a quarterly basisslightly lower than 0.7% of forecasts and consensus. Year-on-year there was an increase of 3.9%, marginally below 4% of the preliminary estimate and expectations. In the 1st quarter of the year there was growth of 0.5% on a quarterly basis and 5.4% on a year-to-year basis.
In the’entire European Union (EU27), GDP recorded an increase of 0.6% on a quarterly basis and of 4% trend in the second quarter of the year.
The number of employees is increased by 0.3% both in the euro area and in the EU in the second quarter of 2022, compared to the previous quarter. In the first quarter of 2022, employment had increased by 0.6% in the euro area and by 0.5% in the EU.
Compared to the same quarter of the previous yearthe occupation is increased by 2.4% in the euro area and 2.3% in the EU in the second quarter of 2022, after + 2.9% in the euro area and + 2.8% in the EU in the first quarter of 2022.
