Eurozone 4th quarter GDP confirmed in stagnation

(Finance) – Eurozone GDP stagnates in the 4th quarter of 2023. According to the European Statistical Office EUROSTAT, GDP was unchanged compared to the previous quarter, hitting the previous estimate and consensus. In the previous quarter, however, a decrease in GDP of 0.1% was recorded.
On year very little is recorded increase of 0.1% in line with the preliminary estimate and analysts’ expectations. The figure compares with the unchanged figure from the previous quarter.

In the entire European Union (EU), the economy recorded zero change both on an economic basis and compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Eurostat, in parallel, also published an update onemployment in the 4th quarterwhich recorded an increase of 0.3% on quarter (in line with consensus) and dell‘1.2% on year (expected +1.3%).
