Eurovision: all our apologies to Louane, we were completely mistaken about her title “Maman”

Eurovision all our apologies to Louane we were completely mistaken

We must apologize to Louane and its title “Maman”, which will represent France at Eurovision 2025.

Louane has been in full swing for a few weeks. The singer, who was chosen to wear the colors of France during the next edition of Eurovision, the largest European singing competition, presented her song “Maman”, with great fanfare, on March 15, at the Stade de France. Since then, the campaign to win Eurovision 2025 has been launched with an artistic and media marathon which must give it maximum chance during the final, on May 17, in Switzerland.

One thing is sure: with this epic launch, Louane did not go unnoticed in Europe. The comments have flocking for two weeks from the four corners of the continent and the bookmakers already place it among the three favorites, with the representatives of Sweden and Austria. However, despite this ramdam, a small detail seems to have escaped many people, including in Linternate which can only apologize flatly to the artist. Like many, we have indeed completely deceived on the title “Maman”, with a guilty fault.

This week, thanks to 20 minuteswe learned (a little late) that the title of the song “Maman” should not be written with a capital letter. After spelling “mom” with a capital over and over for 15 days, we are contrite. It was the artist who made the assumed choice to write “mom” entirely in tiny and Louane explained the reasons for this typographic audacity during a press point. “This is the artistic direction of my latest solo album, and I wanted this song to enter the theme of what I worked all year round,” she said.

Looking at it more closely, the 18 titles of his “solo” opus, released last October, are all up of capital letters, from “the rain” to “sun” via “and if”. A semantic coquetry shared by many current artists. Do not believe that “Maman” is a song at a discount for Louane. She echoes and differs from “Maman” (with a capital letter), a title released in 2015 where she mentioned the death of her mother a year earlier and her difficult mourning.

But the “mom” of 2025 wants to be brighter. “Everything will start again in the spring except the indelible loves,” she sang in 2015. Today, she claims to have found this “indelible love” and want to show that she is going “well, finally”, ten years later. As proof: she joined the voice of her daughter Esmée, 4, at the very end of the title, to pronounce the last “mom” of the song. “An incredible moment” came by chance during an improvised studio session at home, said the singer.
