First-time winner of the European Football Championship, Georgia fought to a 1-1 draw with the pre-favorite Czech Republic.

The hero of Georgia was the goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashviliwhich stretched into several top saves.

Georgia led the game at halftime when they were awarded a penalty kick in first half overtime. Georges Mikutadze finished the lead from the spot.

The Czech Republic pressed on throughout the second half and got their equalizer from a corner kick situation, from which Patrik Schick directed the ball into the goal. At the same time, he became the best scorer in the history of the Czech Republic at the EC level with his six hits.

In the final moments of the match, Georgia was able to counter-attack in the midst of Czech pressure with a three-on-one score. Saba Lobjanidzen however, a shot at a slightly bouncing ball went over the goal.
