NO AIRCRAFT LEFT
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss had promised the plane would take off regardless of the number of passengers in the manifest, but with the precautionary injunction, no passengers were left and no plane bound for Rwanda ever took off.
‘Didn’t give us up’
Rwanda also said it was determined to accept asylum seekers under the April deal, which drew criticism from the UN, human rights groups and church leaders. “We are not intimidated by these developments,” government spokesperson Yolande Makolo told the French news agency AFP.
THEY OBJECTED
In the past few days, at least 30 people scheduled for their first deportation flight have successfully challenged deportation orders in court on human rights or medical grounds.
