Sweden crushed Ireland 3–0.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd scored two goals when Blågult took the first victory in the EC qualifiers.
– She is superior in the Swedish national team this evening, says expert Marcelo Fernandez.
Sweden had started the European Championship qualifiers by playing 1–1 against England at Wembley and 0–1 at home against France at Gamla Ullevi. It’s a streak of results that put Peter Gerhardsson’s national team in third place in the group, behind just France and England.
In Dublin, Blågult was looking for the first victory of the qualifying game.
Ireland pushed for a goal early in the game but it was Sweden who scored.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd ran through after 26 minutes of play and placed the lead goal after a cross from Kosovare Asllani.
In the second half, Sweden pushed for an extension. First, Madelen Janogy came close to scoring the 2–0 goal after a goalkeeping mistake, but that time defenders got in between. Fridolina Rolfö then broke free, but she was denied by Courtney Brosnan in the home goal.
“Is superior”
In the end, however, the payoff would come and in the 62nd minute of the match, Fridolina Rolfö received the ball on the edge of the penalty area. With a well-placed right, she was then able to extend the Swedish lead to 2–0.
The overrun was total when Johanna Rytting Kaneryd once again showed the fore as she made the final score 3–0.
– She is superior in the Swedish national team this evening, says expert Marcelo Fernandez.
On Tuesday, Sweden plays against Ireland again, then at home.
