As with the Champions League, the Europa League draw was made on November 7. 8 UEFA Europa League group runners-up, Manchester United (ENG) / Midtjylland (DEN) / Monaco (FRA) / Nantes (FRA) / PSV Eindhoven (NED) / Rennes (FRA) / Roma (ITA) / Union Berlin (GER) will face the 8 third places of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League: Ajax (NED) / Barcelona (ESP) / Juventus (ITA) / Leverkusen (GER) / Salzburg (AUT) / Sevilla (ESP) / Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR) / Sporting CP (POR). Specifically, the eight group runners-up were seeded while the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage are unseeded and will move on to the second leg.
The least we can say is that the draw was complicated for the French clubs with Juventus and a dream poster for Nantes while Stade Rennais, beaten for first place on the last day, will face Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk while AS Monaco will play against Bayer Leverkusen.
