Europa League 2022 – 2023: full card for French clubs, qualified for the play-offs

Europa League 2022 2023 full card for French clubs

EUROPA LEAGUE 2023. Rennes, Monaco and Nantes have qualified for the round of 16 of the Europa League and are going to offer themselves great displays.

A European campaign far from perfect, but on arrival, it’s a three out of three for the French clubs involved in the Europa League. Rennes, who were aiming for first place in the group, had already qualified before their last match on Thursday 3 November. Against Larnaca, Bruno Genesio’s men settled for a 1-1 draw. “We are disappointed with the result and the way above all. If we should have any regrets, it’s not tonight, it’s the two matches against Fenerbahçe, where we had the possibility of securing first place.”

On the other hand, this qualification for the play-offs is a real feat for the people of Nantes. Very badly engaged in this European campaign, the men of Antoine Kombouaré imposed themselves on the lawn of Olympiakos and offered themselves the right to continue to dream against a team donated from the Champions League. “We are dwarfs, toddlers. Above all, we will continue to discover, to learn from this competition. But the priority for us is of course the championship. Afterwards, we will have stars in our eyes. I heard the players , in the locker room, talking about Barça, Juventus, we don’t exist (laughs). So that’s why we’re going to keep dreaming.”

For Monaco, the job was well done with a 4-1 victory against Etoile Rouge, but first place was no longer accessible for the Monegasques who will also play in the play-offs. “I’m very happy. My team has proven that it is capable of responding in important moments. Our first half was very good, one of the best halves since I’ve been here. There were a lot of movement, work, goals. But we could even have added more,” analyzed Philippe Clément.

For this 2022-2023 season of the Europa League, three French clubs are involved with AS Monaco, donated from the Champions League, Stade Rennais, qualified by the French championship and the FC Nantesqualified after winning the last Coupe de France.
