What is Euphytosis?

Euphytose® is a traditional herbal medicine that exerts action on sleep and stress. It is composed of 4 plants with anxiolytic and sedative properties: valerian root, the aerial part of passion flowerthe flowery top of hawthorn and bale. This commercial specialty is available on sale and is not reimbursed by health insurance.

Does Euphytosis reduce stress?

Euphytose® can be used to relieve minor symptoms associated with stress, including muscle tension and headaches. In this indication, the medicinal product should be administered at the rate ofone tablet 3 times a day for adolescents from 12 years old, and one to two tablets 3 times a day for adults. In case of severe stress, anxiety disorders or depressive episode, a medical consultation is necessary to benefit from an adapted care, medicinal or not.

What are the side effects of Euphytosis?

Taking Euphytose® may be responsible for digestive disorders such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. These effects are mainly caused by valerian. In addition, allergic reactions manifested by itching, rashes and hives can occur. Very rarely, liver damage have been reported in the context of overdose in children.

Can Euphytosis disrupt sleep?

Unlike sleeping pills and anxiolytics which can aggravate insomnia in the event of sudden cessation of treatment, Euphytose® has no negative impact on the quality of sleep. This herbal medicine helps to reduce mild sleep disturbances. In this indication, the recommended posology isone tablet in the evening while eating in adolescents from 12 years old, and two tablets (one with a meal and a second at bedtime) in adults.

Can you become addicted to Euphytose?

This drug does not contain psychoactive substances, molecules that disturb mental activity in high doses or over a long period. Thus, regular intake of Euphytose® is not associated at no risk of dependence or addictionunlike hypnotic drugs (or sleeping pills).

What are the possible dangers of Euphytosis?

Taking Euphytose® can induce drowsiness, which represents a danger for drivers of vehicles and workers using machines. Note that Euphytose® is not dangerous for the pregnant woman or breastfeedingbut as a precaution its administration is not recommended.

Its administration is not recommended in children under 12 years of age.

What are the contraindications of Euphytosis?

The drug Euphytose® should not be taken in patients with:

  • a allergy to one of the components
  • a fructose intolerance, sucrase or isomaltase deficiency (rare disease), a disorder of glucose and galactose absorption

In the absence of available data, its administration is not recommended for children under 12 years old.
