The EU Commission and Twitter CEO Elon Musk agreed on a test to find out whether the instant messaging service complies with Union rules.
According to the European Commission, the instant messaging service Twitter has “a lot of work” ahead of it, so that the company can comply with the Union’s rules.
EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said the CEO of Union Vision Twitter For Elon Musk in a video call on Wednesday.
– There is still a lot of work ahead, because Twitter must implement transparent terms of use, significantly strengthen content moderation, protect freedom of speech and fight disinformation and limit targeted advertising, Breton said during the call.
According to the British newspaper Financial Times, Breton threatened to block Twitter’s operations in the EU if the company, under Musk’s leadership, does not comply with EU rules.
According to Breton, the parties agreed that the union will organize a “stress test” at Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco at the beginning of next year to assess whether the company complies with EU rules.
