The increase in customs fees also applies to European-branded electric cars manufactured in China.
EU countries will decide today whether to permanently impose higher customs duties on electric cars imported from China. The EU Commission has already imposed temporary tariffs on Chinese electric cars, which rose up to a maximum of 36.3 percent, depending on the manufacturer.
Data on permanent charges are not yet public, but according to STT’s data, the level of long-term customs charges is also close to the levels set by the Commission in August.
The increase in customs fees also applies to European-branded electric cars manufactured in China. For example, Swedish Volvo and American Tesla are partly manufactured in China.
