Commissioner of Equality in the European Union has commented on the law approved in Hungary, which prevents the annual Pride march of Budapest. Commissioner Hadja Lahbib says that a peaceful gathering is one of the fundamental rights of the EU.
-We stand alongside the HLBT community-both in Hungary and in all Member States, Lahbib wrote in the message service X.
“The right to peaceful gathering is a fundamental right that is defended in the entire European Union,” he added.
According to the law approved by the Hungarian Parliament on Tuesday, participants in the Pride march are threatened with a fine of EUR 500.
