A Chatham business has been certified by the European Union to export its cannabis extract products.
AgMedica Bioscience Inc. passed through the guidelines of the European Union Good Manufacturing Practices. According to the company, this is the highest recognition available in pharmaceutical cannabis.
The guidelines provide instruction for manufacturing, testing and quality assurance to ensure the products are safe for human consumption.
“This certification is an essential piece needed to export EU GMP certified pharmaceutical grade medical cannabis to importers and distributors in international markets that require EU GMP certification, allowing for global expansion,” a news release from AgMedica stated.
Cannabis extract products can include oils, kief, resin and shatter.
AgMedica’s Chatham facility is now one of the few fully indoor grow facilities in Canada that has received this distinction, according to the release.
The company was also certified by the European Union earlier this year for its flower products.
