Mariupol and Kharkiv under attack by Russia

Germany needs four months to give up Russian coal
EU ambassadors reached an agreement on a fifth package of sanctions against Russia late Thursday because of its attack on Ukraine. The matter was reported on the official Twitter account of the French EU presidency.
Sanctions are being imposed on, among others, Russian oligarchs, propaganda actors, representatives of the armed forces and high-tech actors linked to the war in Ukraine.
Sanctions also include the freezing of funds of several Russian banks, a ban on coal imports, a ban on arms exports and a ban on ships sailing under the Russian flag.
The ban on coal imports is the EU’s first sanctions on the Russian energy sector. It is estimated at four billion euros a year.
EU countries have 120 days to look for alternative suppliers of coal. German Chancellor Olaf Scholzin Germany needs four months to give up coal imports from Russia.
The EU is also planning additional € 500 million in arms aid to Ukraine. The EU has previously agreed on € 1 billion in aid for Ukraine’s munitions
