The United States will sell six Himars model rocket artillery systems to Estonia, in a deal worth 200 million dollars – equivalent to roughly two billion kroner. It is the largest arms deal in Estonia’s history.

It is not clear how many associated rockets are involved, but that there will be both short-range rockets and others with a range of 300 kilometers.

The artillery system is expected to be in use by 2024 at the earliest.

Estonia, which borders Russia, has increased its defense budget since Russian troops launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. Lithuania also intends to acquire Himars, and then it involves eight systems in a deal worth close to 500 million dollars.

The United States gifted the advanced rocket artillery system to Ukraine in June, and it has since been seen as one of the most effective weapons the country has in the war against Russia.
