Once again, the people of Tamriel in ESO are celebrating the grand New Year festival. Find out here what’s still up for grabs this year.
What is the New Year festival? Each time a year comes to an end in Tamriel, the people of the continent throw a big festival to welcome in the new year.
In game this means that from December 5th, 2022 at 16:00 CET until January 3rd, 2023 at 16:00 CET you can complete all kinds of tasks and get valuable rewards.
To participate, all you have to do is get the associated quest, The New Life Festival, for free from the Crown Store, and then find the hard-drinking New Year Herald Breda at her tent south of Windhelm in Eastmarch.
Anything you can do to celebrate with the people of Tamriel
An introductory quest follows, and once you complete that, there are ten special daily quests that follow. They send you across the continent and you can help every race of Tamriel prepare special holiday quests.

The individual tasks are:
Castle Bard Challenge (Bretons): Here you have to perform and perform tricks in three locations in Castle Alcaire in Stormhaven.
The Snow Bear Leap (North): A tradition of the fierce Nords is to dive into icy water wearing only a bath towel. Do this in three different locations, then warm up with hot mead around the campfire.
The War Orphan Journey (Altmer): It is a custom of the High Elves to sponsor the journeys of war orphans. For this you should protect the Temple of the Eight in Grathwald from animals and donate to the orphans.
The Trial of Five-Claw List (Khajiit): How do you think the Khajiit celebrate the New Year? Of course with thieves! You should crack three chests and steal coins from them. Of course, the coins are immediately stolen from you again. The quest can be found in Growl’kha.
Fish Favor Feast (Argonians): Argonians love fish, so a hearty fish feast is part of their New Year celebrations. Travel to Eastmarch and search the swamp for specific fish.
Lava Foot Stomp (Dunmer): In order to circumvent a past ban on dancing, resourceful dark elves declared their tap dance as a safety exercise to put out footwear that had caught fire. Since then, the sinister elves have been dancing at the New Year’s festival. To do this, travel to Voms Wacht and Ebonheart and dance in different places there.
Mudball Fight (Bosmer): The cheeky Wood Elves have no respect for authority and like to disturb the public peace. So the little anarcho-elves have a New Year’s tradition of throwing balls of mud at unsuspecting high elves strolling by. Travel to Auridon for the fun.
Beacon Sprint (Redguards): Due to an old tradition, it is common for the Redguards in the city of Bergama to run over the city walls and light beacons in good time.
Stonefang Bash (Orcs): Orcs love it hearty. Therefore you travel here to Betnikh and help to organize all kinds of food. They are then plastered and if you want it really orcish, you can belch heartily in the face of each participant at the end. That’s how it has to be with the orcs!
The Old Year Rite (Imperial): Here it is important to light a candle at a special shrine and commemorate the deceased.
