Iranian television showed General Ghaani at a ceremony for the arrival of the army corpsAbbas Nilforoushansenior member of the Revolutionary Guards, killed at the same time as Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.
Over the past two weeks, rumors have surfaced that he died during Israeli strikes in Beirut. Then, regional media claimed that General Ghaani had been arrested because of suspicions of possible Israeli infiltration in his entourage which would have allowed the Israelis to carry out strikes against Hassan Nasrallah or other leaders of the Hezbollah.
The general appeared during these ceremonies without saying a word and in civilian clothes while the other commanders were in military clothes. He could deliver a speech this Tuesday evening at other planned ceremonies.
This comes as Iran still fears an Israeli attack in response to the launch of 200 missiles against the Jewish state on October 1. Several Iranian officials have reiterated that Iran will respond forcefully to any Israeli attack.
