ESMA, two Italians among the new members of the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group

(Finance) – The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has nominated new members of his Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG). On 1 July 2024 the new members will begin their four-year mandate, during which they will provide ESMA with advice on its policy work and be consulted on technical standards and guidelines.

“I believe that with their strong experience, diverse professional backgrounds and broad geographical representation, we have ensured that ESMA will receive diverse views and inputs from stakeholders from across the European Union – he commented Verena Ross, president of ESMA – ESMA works to improve investor protection, build more effective and attractive capital markets in the European Union and safeguard financial stability.”

Among the new members there are also two Italian academics: Barbara Alemanni (Affiliate Professor of Banking and Insurance at SDA Bocconi School of Management and full professor of Economics of Financial Intermediaries at the University of Genoa); Giovanni Petrella (full professor of Economics of financial intermediaries at the Catholic University of Milan).
