Esma Assad, wife of Syrian President Bashar Assad, was diagnosed with leukemia. In the statement made by the Syrian Presidency, it was stated that 48-year-old Esma Assad, who underwent medical examination and tests after various symptoms and clinical signs, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.
It was reported that Esma Assad will be subject to a special treatment protocol that includes isolation conditions, and therefore will stay away from public activities.

Esma Esad announced in August 2019 that she had overcome breast cancer, which was diagnosed early in 2018.
Chronic myeloid leukemia is known as a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood cells.
