Eskilstuna: Man charged with murder

A 23-year-old man is charged today for a murder in Nyfors in Eskilstuna in 2018.
The murder could only be solved several years later with the help of new technology.
– We have solved this murder, among other things, thanks to the progress of DNA technology. The suspected perpetrator’s DNA has been found on a pair of gloves that were used in the murder, says senior prosecutor Åsa Kullgren, who leads the preliminary investigation.

When the murder occurred in November 2018, several young people witnessed the incident, but no one said who shot and the case was investigated without a suspect. But when the police got a DNA match on a pair of gloves a year ago, the preliminary investigation was resumed.

– An important piece of the puzzle is also that we now have witness information. I mean that I have strong evidence in the form of a witness who named the shooter and in addition we have good technical evidence in the form of seized weapons and a DNA match from the night of the murder, says Åsa Kullgren.

The accused man was arrested in September last year, he denies the crime.
