The representatives of Vittfarna’s viking village in Sösdala, Scania, are acquitted by the Hässleholm district court of grave antiquities violations at Vätteryd’s burial ground.
The couple who run the village were put on trial in early 2022 when they were suspected of erecting buildings and carrying out earthworks that altered or damaged the ancient remains. The prosecutor saw it as gross as it involves a particularly extensive and protected ancient remains.
The indictment is dismissed as the district court considers that the crime of driving machines on the graveyard is to be assessed as a crime of the normal degree and thus time-barred.
