The escalators were out of service so often in recent years that passengers had the idea that they were not working more often than they were. The escalators that were prone to malfunction were therefore replaced. In 2017, an affected passenger even created the Twitter account @werktderoltrap. This was used to report whether the escalator was still working. The account has not tweeted since 2022, but this does not mean that the escalators at Utrecht CS are working.
