Erik Karlsson’s shock message last night – can’t hide his joy after the incredible reward: “Wow, what a big deal!”

Erik Karlsson is now being rewarded hugely after his sensational season.
And he himself cannot hide how much it means to him.
– That’s probably what I’m most proud of, he says.

Erik Karlsson’s season was sensational. After several years in the San Jose Sharks, where he had difficulty getting up to level, despite being constantly one of the best paid players in the entire league, there was a real thaw during the just ended regular season.

Cool news last night

However, Erik Karlsson’s Sharks had major problems with collecting enough points, and it was clear early on that there would be no talk of a playoff. But Karlsson continued to deliver at record levels, and in the end he was completely superior in the scoring of the backs.

Erik Karlsson became the first defender in 30 years to get over 100 points in the league, and this summer he is the super favorite to win the Norris Trophy, the prize for the defender of the year in the league. But last night he also received another, more unexpected, dream message – namely that he had been nominated for the Ted Lindsay Award. The award is given to the player that the players in the NHL themselves think is the very best.

“Most proud of”

Erik Karlsson is pitted there against the inhuman Connor McDavid, and the Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak – and it means a lot to the Swede to even be nominated.

– Damn, how big. It’s probably what I’m most proud of so far, he says to Aftonbladet.

Previously, only two Swedes in NHL history have been awarded the award, in the form of Markus Näslund (2003) and Daniel Sedin (2011).

– When the guys you compete against every day hold you in such high regard, there is nothing to feel but pride. Unbelievable, says Karlsson.
