Erik Karlsson’s new great success in the NHL – completely dominates and now leads the scoring league with 14(!) points

Erik Karlsson is completely superior right now.
In the San Jose Sharks’ first meeting after the All-Star weekend, the Swede became a big hero right away.

And now he leads the backers’ scoring with a whopping 14(!) points.

In the NHL, there is a lot of talk about Connor McDavid and his total superiority right now. The Edmonton Oilers star is having the best season in the NHL in decades, as he played 51 games and recorded 93 points. He thus leads the points league with 17 points ahead of the second on the list.

Continues to dominate

But Erik Karlsson is actually almost as superior when it comes to the backs in the league. The Swede, to no one’s surprise, was in the All-Star weekend just a few days ago, and last night he, and the San Jose Sharks, played their first game since the exhibition weekend. And it went exactly as it usually does these days for Karlsson.

Worth noting is that the Sharks are having a poor season and are far from playoff contention, which only makes Karlsson’s feats even more impressive. In the night’s meeting against the significantly higher ranked Tampa Bay Lightning, Karlsson scored the goal that tied the score at 1-1 early in the first period.

14(!) points ahead

Lightning later scored both 2-1 and 3-1 – but Erik Karlsson wasn’t done for the evening. He assisted until the goal that meant 3-3 and extra time – and once there Karlsson served teammate Timo Meier who made the decision 4-3.

– He did what he does best: Finding the decisive pass. I just had to poke it in, says Meier about the goal and Karlsson’s performance.

Erik Karlsson’s three points in the match mean that he moves away in the backs’ scoring. Erik Karlsson has played 52 games this season – and accounted for a mind-boggling 69 points. The runner-up in the defenders’ scoring, Swedish Rasmus Dahlin, is a full 14 points behind, which says a lot about how incredibly superior Karlsson is this season. Talk about impressive!
