Erik Karlsson continues to dominate.
Last night he stepped forward again – and extended his scoring streak to eight straight games.
This despite the fact that the San Jose Sharks continue to struggle.
Erik Karlsson is reborn. The Swede has been seen and calculated in recent years, since he signed his monster contract with the San Jose Sharks, but this season has been the best among all defensemen in the entire NHL. He is one of the very few exclamation marks in an otherwise depleted Sharks.

Last night, the team completely collapsed once again in the game against the Calgary Flames. The score was 3-3 four minutes into the third period, but by the time the third period signal sounded, the Flames had scored four more goals, and the Sharks were down 3-7. And it’s not the first time the team has collapsed this season.
The Sharks are second to last in their division and won’t have much to do with the playoffs later this spring. Everything points to the fact that the team will now do a so-called rebuild, i.e. to invest in young people and towards the future, and that is precisely why Erik Karlsson is rumored to be gone. He is on one of the league’s most expensive contracts, and to enable a rebuild, the Sharks need to get rid of the contract. Karlsson has been rumored to teams like the Ottawa Senators and Edmonton Oilers, and it’s no wonder the interest is high.

At the top of the points league
Because while the Sharks are in crisis, Karlsson continues to dominate completely. He was credited with another assist last night, as he first chipped away at a player, then set up teammate Timo Meier who scored. The score means that Karlsson has scored or assisted in eight straight games. It was also his 30th assist of the season, only five players in the NHL have done more.
And then you have to remember that Erik Karlsson is a defender… Speaking of defenders, no one has scored more points than Karlsson in the NHL this season. Karlsson has 42 points in 34 player games, and thus leads the defenders in points clearly. Five points behind, in third place, is Rasmus Dahlin.
Erik Karlsson is highly praised on social media, and everyone agrees that the team that manages to grab the Swede this winter will get a player who can decide a match at any time. And of course, one can only agree that it would be awesome to see Karlsson make a proper attempt to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in his career.
