Erik Erlandsson surprised everyone and became a sensational fourth in the EC final

Swedish sprinter Erik Erlandsson had a great race and finished fourth in the EC final of 200 meters.

The clock stopped at 20.57 – with that the 20-year-old was only a tenth off the bronze.
– It’s completely insane. I say as I said yesterday, four weeks ago I didn’t know if I would be here or not. Being fourth in Europe was not on the map, says Erik Erlandsson in SVT.

The road to the 200 meter final was messy to say the least for Erlandsson. He and Tomas NemejcCzech Republic, had the same time and shared eighth place after the semifinals.

For several hours, there were various messages as to whether Erlandsson would be allowed to be in the final or not – and in the end it was decided that he would be.

There he really took the chance.
– I go in without pressure, am ready and know that I can perform in a final. I feel strong, and just went out and had fun, says the Swede.

The Swiss Timothé Mumenthaler won before Filippo TortuItaly, and William ReaisSwitzerland.
