Erik at LTU’s different approach to explaining his research – knitted a sweater

Erik Fagerström does research on freezing water droplets at Luleå University of Technology. Usually when he has to explain what he’s doing to family and friends, they tend to lose concentration pretty quickly.

– As a researcher, you are very wrapped up in your own stuff.

As Erik usually relaxes by sitting down and knitting in his spare time, he figured out how he could combine utility with pleasure.

Want the research to reach more people

On a sweater, he has simply knitted his experiments as a pattern.

Erik Fagerström thinks it is important that he and the others in the university world reach out to more people with all the research progress being made.

– Reaching out to the public is something everyone needs to get better at.
