Eric Cantona is furious after the action against Sir Alex Ferguson

Coaching legend Sir Alex Ferguson quits as an ambassador for Manchester United – the reason is that the English club will save money.
Then the old great player Eric Cantona, who won five league titles with Ferguson in 1992–1997, rages.

“Sir Alex Ferguson should be allowed to do whatever he wants within the club until the day he dies. Total lack of respect. It is absolutely scandalous. Sir Alex Ferguson will be my boss forever!”, writes the Frenchman Eric Cantona on his Instagram account according to the news agency AFP.

The now 82-year-old Sir Alex Ferguson is said to receive just over SEK 27m (£2m) per season for his role as an ambassador for the club. Ferguson led Manchester United to, among other things, 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League victories before leaving the coaching post in 2013. In total, there were 38 titles during his 27 years at the club.

In September, Manchester United reported a loss of just over 1.5 billion kroner – £113.2 million – for the 2023-2024 season, according to the club’s financial statements.

It is the fifth season in a row that United have gone backwards. In the 2022-2023 season, for example, the club backed 28.7 million pounds and the season before that the loss was as much as 115 million pounds.

Manchester United have had a miserable start to this year’s Premier League season. The team is in 14th place after seven rounds.
