UTRECHT – The water polo players of UZSC and ZPC Amersfoort have drawn in the Eredivisie. The Utrecht team’s home game against Het Ravijn ended in 16-16 and the Amersfoort team drew 8-8 at home against Polar Bears. The ladies of UZSC won in the Eredivisie with 6-8 on a visit to ZVL.

The men from UZSC and Het Ravijn were equal at the start. In the second period, the Utrecht team opened a gap of four, after which the visitors fought back. Then the teams, who are direct competitors, kept each other in balance until the end. Luuk Gielen was top scorer at UZSC with six goals.

UZSC is fourth with forty points from nineteen games. Het Ravijn has one point less from as many matches.

Van der Werve important for ZPC Amersfoort

ZPC Amersfoort didn’t start well and trailed 0-3. Then they recovered and at the beginning of the third period they came at 5-3 on the basis of Max van der Werve, top scorer on the side of ZPC Amersfoort, who scored five times. They couldn’t hold onto the lead against Polar Bears, who eventually shared the points.

The Amersfoorters are sixth with 33 points from nineteen games. Polar Bears is the number three.

Ladies UZSC fight back

The UZSC water polo players didn’t get off to a good start and trailed 3-0 after the first period. Then the Utrecht ladies came back. At the end of the third period, UZSC took a lead for the first time and did not relinquish it. Nerida Drewes was the top scorer with three points.

UZSC is third with 42 points from twenty matches. The lead on number five ZVL is no less than 17 points.
