The field hospital provides first aid to wounded soldiers on the front lines. They will be transferred to the right hospitals farther from the front when their condition is stable enough.

Stepan is the commander of the field hospital. We do not share the full names of him or any of the interviewees for security reasons.
According to Stepan, the number of wounded and fallen Ukrainian soldiers has increased in recent days.

Russia is firing on Ukrainian soldiers, but also on civilians living near the front almost non-stop. The field hospital has also treated severely wounded locals.
The commander shows off his phone a picture of a young boy with a huge splinter injury in his leg. He said the leg had to be amputated for the boy to survive.
– The war has only recently hit civilians in this area with full force. We have cared for five civilians in critical condition.
The commander describes the field hospital as a first aid station. He presents a room with two simple operating tables and lights.
