Janne Pesonen is the new sports director of HIFK, which plays in the hockey SM league, according to Urheilu.

Pesonen is remembered for his playing career, for example, from the 2011 world championship team. In his career, he also won four Finnish championships, one Swedish championship and one KHL championship.

After his playing career, Pesonen has, among other things, worked as an expert on television and as the team manager of the national team under the age of 20. He has also studied sports coaching and management in Vierumäki.

HIFK’s previous sports director Tobias Salmelainen resigned from his position in April. Salmelainen started as the sports director of the Helsinki club in November 2017 and during his time HIFK won two bronze medals.
