– Authorities showed six burnt bodies in a detached house on the outskirts of Butša. Four of the dead were probably women, although this is not entirely certain, because the bodies were so badly destroyed, Antti Kuronen says.

– The bodies had been burned with petrol. According to Ukrainians, Russian soldiers had burned their bodies to destroy evidence of war crimes, Kuronen says.

2. What kind of destruction had the city suffered?

– In the center of Bushan, a large shopping center was destroyed by fire. Russian soldiers had looted it and emptied numerous other shops before withdrawing from the city.

– There were a lot of destroyed houses and vehicles along the city.

– There is a shortage of food. There were several dozen people in the city center waiting for food help.

3. How had the locals survived the Russian occupation?

– There had been a lot of firefights in Butcha and people had been hiding in the basements of their homes.

– During the occupation, many families had severe shortages of food. They did not dare to pick up food, as people who went out might be shot, Antti Kuronen says.
