Jeton Gashi’s family has just had a show for his apartment in Norsborg. The apartment bought the father for two million, but it is out too much cheaper than that. The surfaces are shiny, and the shoes are in line along the hall wall.

    – There have only been two or three pieces here and looked in total. But no one wants to buy now when there is inflation, says Jeton, 25.

Jeton’s family has been forced to leave Sweden after over a decade here. They will be expelled to Kosovo where they came from in the early 2010s. They have been given a decision from the Migration Board’s upper court, which they cannot now appeal. That the over -court would reconsider their case was their last resort.

The Gashi family left the country because the salary Dad Zymer was not enough for five people.

    – And Edon needed help.

    “Weighed 40 kilos”

The Gashi family includes Zymer, 61, Bukurije, 48 and their three sons Jeton, 25, Edon, 23 and Zuke, 21. The recent has been stressful. Concerns about the future and most of all for one son takes over the days.

Edon, 23, has a moderate developmental disorder, epilepsy and pancreatic disease. In Sweden he has daily activities which means that he gets help with employment and structure in everyday life. He must not be left without supervision. There is a risk that he may happen to harm himself.

    – He has received great care and help in Sweden, says Jeton.

The mother picks up a tray and puts on the table in the living room. It is full of medicines. One by one she takes up jars and tells what they are for. One is for digestion and another, Edon will take if he gets an epileptic seizure.

    – When he was in Kosovo, he felt very bad. He weighed 40 kilos. There were not the medicines he needed so the pharmacy there needed to buy from Turkey. You had to wait and it was not always the same brand on the jars we got, and there are different prices all the time. I don’t know if it was legal or illegal, but we did it anyway because he needs his medicine and we don’t want to see our brother die. So we did what we could, says Jeton.

    “He has no one there”

The family did not want to tell the whole truth to Edon before the case was completely settled. Thus, they may be forced to move back. But Edon says he is tired and scared.

    – We have tried not to address it. He gets really sad because he has no one there. Here he has friends and staff he meets every day.

Jeton says it is tragic if he should spend the rest of his life there, without similar support he receives in Sweden.

    – He was home alone all day. It’s scary – if he gets an attack he can settle. He can be seized if he gets his medicines just ten minutes late.

Jeton himself is allowed to stay in Sweden. He will soon be fixed on SEB and meets the Migration Board’s work permit and supply requirements that allow him to retain his residence permit in Sweden for six months. He is also entitled to an extension which he will apply for.

    – If I could change places with my little brother, I would have done it.

    Usually draws and color

Jeton lives himself. But the brothers usually draw together when he comes home to the family. Edon usually holds a paper against Jeton’s computer screen and drawing off flower and animal motifs and then coloring them. The days Jeton can’t come home to the family, they talk on the phone.

With the deportation decision comes an entry ban of two years.

Jeton apologizes and goes away for a while. The idea of not being able to meet his little brother is tough, he says.

    Left Sweden once before

By 2020, the family made a decision to leave the country. Then they lived in Kosovo 18 months before they could return. The problem then was that the father had not announced that he had changed jobs correctly according to the Migration Board’s rules.

    – Now we were as careful as possible. We did not want to make the same mistake as 2020. Now he has worked at the same company, not changed jobs, and he has had a good salary.

    – We understood that we had done wrong then, but now we haven’t. It has become a misunderstanding and I do not think the Migration Board has done this with diligence, says Jeton.

The Migration Board and the Administrative Court unanimous

What Misunderstanding Jeton refers to has to do with the job Zymer applied when he returned to Sweden in 2020.

    – My dad has not done anything wrong. He has followed everything to follow. If he had made the mistakes that the Migration Board is referring to, then I would not have struggled.

Both the Migration Board and the Administrative Court in Gothenburg have looked at the Gashi family and have come to the same thing.

Since Zymer is not allowed to stay, his wife and children cannot get a residence permit through him.

The family has argued that the care in Kosovo is inadequate. The Court considered that even if the care in Sweden is better, it does not mean that he has the right to stay in Sweden because of that reason.

Facts hurry should a job be advertised correctly?

In order for a recruitment to be considered correct according to Sweden’s commitments within the EU, the employer must comply with the rules for labor immigration and ensure that recruitment is open, transparent and available for job seekers within the EU/EEA.

On the one hand, a job must be announced for at least 10 days at the Employment Service Bank and/or in the EURES Portal, which is the EU’s job platform. The employment must be visible to all job seekers within the EU/EEA and Switzerland and no one may be given priority.

The employer must actively consider applications from the EU/EEA citizen before a person outside the EU is offered the job.

Kosovo does not belong to the EU.
