Fortnite will soon have a new mode that long-time fans in particular will be eagerly awaiting. Darin goes back to the beginning of the game.
What kind of mode is this? Epic Games has confirmed what many fans were already hoping for. The OG mode is celebrating its return. This refers to the original state of the game when it was released.
Many players mourn the old map and the loot from back then. They feel nostalgic when they think of “back then” in the distant year of 2017. Even if the very first Fortnite was different.
Last year, players were able to play round after round on the old map for a limited time. This creates a lot of traffic on the servers and was well received by the fans. Over 44 million players made for the strongest day in Fortnite history (via x.com).
This is probably why the developers decided to bring OG back – but this time for good. Because when the OG season ended last year, Fortnite was suddenly a completely different game again.

“This is not a practice”
What does the mode include? The developers announced the mode on x.com and immediately emphasized that it was no joke: “This is not an exercise. OG is coming back and is here to stay”.
Specifically, the original map returns, which can be played and explored as it was back then. The loot from back then can also be found again.
This also includes the return of the original seasons. It starts with Season 1 and the state of the map at the time. After that, there will be regular new seasons of the OG game, up to Season 10. In this way, you can see how the map has changed over time.
When does the mode start? The time has come on December 6th, 2024 and OG is launching. It will then be its own mode alongside the existing ones.
The announcement should be particularly pleasing to fans of the early days. On x.com, for example, the user Quackity writes: “If this appears, I will never leave my PC again.” Many enthusiastic fans join him.
