Epic Games wants to keep Fortnite as free of cheaters as possible and, like most shooters, bans cheating players. However, sometimes mistakes occur and an innocent person is punished. However, one player now showed that Epic apologizes in an exemplary manner when they have banned sincere players.
What kind of excuse was that? A player reports on Reddit that Epic Games banned him from Fortnite for 2 weeks for no reason. He then received an email from the developer of the battle royale shooter.
In the email, Epic Games apologizes and informs the player of the disappointment that he will receive as compensation for the incorrect ban: “We have mistakenly taken action against your account. We have reversed this action and awarded 2,000 V-Bucks to your Fortnite account as compensation for the error and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.” (via Reddit)
The player received compensation of 2,000 V-Bucks, at least that’s what the screenshot shared on Reddit shows. 2,000 V-Bucks equals approximately €18 (2x 1,000 V-Bucks for €8.99).
V-Bucks are the in-game currency in Fortnite that you can buy for real money and exchange for skins. For example, for 2,000 V-Bucks you can purchase the new skin in the style of Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077.
Would be banned again for 2,000 V-Bucks
What does the affected player say about the apology? The Reddit user is apparently very happy with Epic Games’ apology and writes: “I’ll take it for 2k V-Bucks anytime.” He would therefore accept another ban if he received 2,000 V-Bucks again.
What does the community say about this? Other players also see something positive in the ban and the resulting compensation. One user jokes: “Epic sent you on paid vacation.” This is probably a reference to the fact that many people develop a kind of love-hate relationship with the game and that a temporary break can be good.
Other Reddit users report that even more players received the same compensation. It doesn’t matter whether they were previously banned for several months or just a few days. You probably always got 2,000 V-Bucks. Some people find this unfair, but are happy that there is compensation at all.
Fortnite is not an isolated case of false bans. In other games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 or Warzone, there are repeated reports of players being incorrectly banned. This could be due, for example, to the fact that the affected player is being reported en masse. This is then followed by a kick out of the lobby and a shadowban: CoD: Players fight against cheaters in Black Ops 6 and Warzone – and are kicked out of the lobby for it
