East of Berlin, construction work on the last section of the urban freeway is progressing, surrounded by fierce resistance at every kilometer. There are many opponents to this very old and now much-criticized project: ecologists, cycling associations and the world of the night. Because it is not just trees that will be razed for the works, but also five of Berlin’s legendary clubs, including the famous Renate, which will have to close to make way for bulldozers.
