The Flash is one of the last DC Universe films to hit theaters before James Gunn officially takes over. The film worn by Ezra Miller is to be seen in French cinemas this Wednesday, June 14, 2023. And if this feature film introduces the DC multiverse for the first time on the big screen, it is also tainted by the controversies that drag on the interpreter of Barry Allen: since 2022, Ezra Miller has been accused of numerous misdeeds: burglaries, accusations of corruption of minors, assaults or even driving while intoxicated.

Will this put a brake on the success of The Flash At the movie theater ? Nothing is less certain when you see the enthusiasm of DC fans but also the criticism of the press. The American media were able to share their first opinions, and Andy Muschietti’s film garnered 71% positive opinions out of 119 critics listed on Rotten Tomatoes. But the press is divided between the convinced and the disappointed. Overall, the press welcomes the touches of humor and the “entertainment” offered by the feature film. For Empire Magazine, The Flash is “one of the best entries in the DCEU, a smart and warm buddy movie”. For Rolling Stone, it is “by far the best film born of the recent collaboration between Warner and DC since Christopher Nolan’s Batman”.

But the American press is far from being completely conquered by the new adventures of Barry Allen. Variety praises the beginnings of the film, while judging that the film “exhausts” on the length. “This movie is always running from one ill-conceived idea to another, from one modestly satisfying nostalgic reference to another, with very questionable results, judges The Wrap. How appropriate, how disappointing”. Total Film alone seems to sum up the opinions shared on The Flash “It’s perhaps unsurprising that the entertaining, fan-service-packed Barry Allen movie feels at times like an expanded universe that implodes under the weight of its ambitious but often muddled intentions.” We will have to wait for the release of the film in France to discover the opinions of the French press.

After the announcement of Michael Keaton on the way back in the role of Bruce Wayne alias Batman, we discover today that Ben Affleck will also take over the role of the Dark Knight in the future film The Flash. However, it now seems that he plays an “important role” in The Flash, a film by Andy Muschietti. Ezra Miller takes over the role of Barry Allen alias Flash, the fastest man in the world. In the feature film, the character should navigate between several parallel dimensions, as is the case in the comics, which would allow him to come into contact with two different versions of Batman: that of Michael Keaton and that of Ben Affleck SO.

Andy Muschietti explains in the columns of Vanity Fair: “[Ben Affleck] has a very important role in the emotional impact of the film” he announces. “The interaction and the relationship between Barry and Ben Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level never seen before.” The director, however, wishes to clarify that “it’s Barry’s movie. It’s his story. But these characters are more related than you might think. They both lost their mother in an assassination, it is one of the emotional threads of the film.
