Entertainers scheduled for Dufferin Park grand reopening

Basketball star Q Mack and musician Chris Strei are among the list of entertainers scheduled to perform at the grand reopening of Dufferin Park.

The event, which takes place from noon to 4 pm on July 14, will also feature pickleball and tennis demonstrations.

Strei, a local country, blues and folk music performer, kicks off the entertainment at noon on the main stage while Shaelee Sheppard will be performing on the market stage.

Other scheduled performers include Jocelyn June, Last Man Standing, Caribbean Kyle and children’s musician Bevy and Beanz.

The day of activities has been organized by the city and the Holmedale Neighborhood Association. An official ribbon cutting ceremony featuring city and neighborhood officials, including Mayor Kevin Davis, takes place at 12:45 pm

Poppy from Trolls will be at the event at various times throughout the afternoon and Q-Mack will be on the basketball court at 1:15 pm and 1:45 pm

Annabelle Ganescu, a Top-10 junior Canadian tennis player, and professional tennis coach Ethan Mavromatis will be at the event. Two round-robin tennis tournaments will be held in the afternoon.

Representatives from the Canadian National Pickleball League will play a game of pickleball at 2 p.m.

The newly redeveloped park at 158 ​​St. Paul Ave. includes an accessible playground with rubber surfacing, a basketball court, a new building and new parking lot. It also includes six tennis courts and six pickleball courts with lighting and access to shade structures.

Pre-booking for the outdoor courts begins July 3 and the courts will be available for public use starting July 10 from 8 am to 10 pm
