Sweden barely won against the Netherlands.
In Finland, it was blamed on Hedvig Lindahl.
– She is known for making a big mistake in almost every match, says the Finnish expert Marianne Miettinen.
Sweden had just taken the lead against Switzerland, and it was a long way off. Sweden had a hard time creating sharp goal chances during the match, but in the end Fridolina Rolfö was able to run free – and she made no mistakes alone against the goalkeeper.
Huge criticism in Finland
But the Swedish joy was short-lived. Almost immediately, Switzerland hit a post that Hedvig Lindahl ended up in the middle of. She did get a hand on the ball, but it just fell straight down on the feet of the superstar Ramona Bachmann, who equalized.
And in Finland they were not gracious in their criticism of Hedvig Lindahl. Marianne Miettinen is an expert in EPN, and according to Aftonbladet she is described as one of Finland’s best footballers. And she did not hold back from criticizing Lindahl.
– It is easy to say in retrospect but Hedvig Lindahl is known for making a big mistake in almost every match, Miettinen says according to the newspaper.
“Today it cost a goal”
Miettinen is then said to have continued with his criticism:
– Sometimes it costs a goal, and sometimes not. Today, unfortunately, it did. I’ve seen her make pretty big mistakes in big games.
Hedvig Lindahl had to face criticism after Sweden won the match. She believes that it was the right decision to step out to box, but that she had wanted it further away.
– I would get rid of it a little longer if I am to be completely honest. But it is a very tight situation, so the ball could have ended up somewhere else.
